The Jewish expression "Mazal Tov" is used to congratulate people when they experience a significant happy event in their lives. In Jewish circles news of and events like a wedding, getting a new job, or the birth of a child are all greeted with Mazal Tov. The literal translation of "Mazal Tov" is "Good luck" and it could not be a more apt thing to wish my sister and brother-in-law these days.
In fact, it would be appropriate to wish it to them three times because my amazing little sister gave birth to three, count 'em, THREE babies last Friday. September 11th will now not only be a day when I remember and am sad for the events of 9/11/01, but my sister's adorable triplets' birthday. What a way to brighten a dark day!!
Her two new baby girls and sweet tiny baby boy instantly doubled the amount of children she has. There are three very proud big brothers too! As is common with multiples, the babies were born a little early; they'll be spending the next few weeks in the NICU growing and getting stronger so they can go home but they are doing very well and they are just beautiful beyond words. She lives on the other side of the country so I have yet to meet them. I can hardly wait to fly out there and be with my sister so I can help her with her bundles and bundles of joy. As soon as she says the word I'll be on the next flight. I guess I better start stocking up on those woombies I wrote about a while ago.
This bring my total nieces and nephews count to 36! 36!?!?!?!?!?! Can this be right? Yup, I just did the math again. 36 it is with at least one more on the way. I wonder what the count will be when I finally give up and stop bothering to remember their names...

Meme...
I was tagged by Hadassah, so here goes.
The rules are:
1. Open the fourth file that you store pictures in.
2. Post the fourth photo in that file.
3. Explain the photo.
4. Tag four other bloggers.
Simple enough and I was happy to see that the fourth photo in the fourth file was a fun one and one of my favorites.

That's Goldie a bunch of years ago getting a little wild with her chalk and vanity table. (I had to draw a little shirt on her because the shirtless photo was too much for photobucket. It "violated" their terms of service.)
I tag Cat, Alice, Wendy, and Katie.

Calling all moms!!
It's a crying shame that the Woombie doesn't come in big kid sizes. I imagine it would be especially handy for those nasty teenage years!!

Slacker Mom "Bakes" A Cake
Gavi's birthday party is tomorrow. We're doing a laser tag party because that's what 10 year old boys love. Ten year old boys also love cake, but they don't particularly care about what that cake looks like which plays very well into my current slacker mom mode.
So this is the "recipe" I used:
1 box Betty Crocker Party Rainbow Chip cake mix, prepared as per box's instructions.
1 1/2 cans Pillsbury Chocolate Fudge Funfetti frosting.
1 package Betty Crocker Candy cake decorations.
And this is the result:

Not too shabby of you ignore the less than smooth frosting, questionable lettering, and crooked "HAPPY"
Good thing boys don't care!! ;o)

Does this kid look fat to you??

Ok, not the best picture of his face, but it was the only very recent almost full body shot.
According to the pediatrician, said in front of Gavi of course, "You should cut back on the junkfood because he's getting fat."
After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I just yessed the pediatrician, but really? REALLY?!?

Tuesday Ten
(Many thanks to Cat.)
1. We are expanding our business. My studio is now a shared office (with David) and David's office will be used by our new employees.
2. We are seriously contemplating removing our house from the market temporarily since nothing is happening with it and we really need to concentrate on the growth of the business.
3. The children are enrolled in their school for next year. Cherry Lane Elementary here we come. I am very excited about moving past the last (difficult) year in yeshiva and on to a place where my kids can think for themselves without religious restrictions we don't believe in.
4. I will be the aunt of six, count em SIX, new nieces/nephews in the span of one year (two already born, four on the way.)
5. I am having a TMJ flareup which basically gives me a very tender jaw, that feels like it's been recently punched, and major headaches. It seems to be improving though and hopefully I will be done with this round soon.
6. School is almost out for the kids and we are preparing for summer (yes, I am counting the days down with them, only 33 more to go! WOOHOO!) I have already hired a part time nanny so that I can work in the mornings but the afternoons are going to be mine with the kids and I canNOT wait!
7. I am looking forward to a girls night out tomorrow night with two of my sisters and one sil... oops, I think we forgot to invite my mom, better call her quick!
8. I am feeling bright and optimistic about our future, I think there are great things in store for us, but at the same time I am nervous and under a bit of stress.
9. Both of my kids have become increasingly responsible lately. Gavi is leading the way and Goldie is learning from his good example. They've been better about cleaning up after themselves and just generally being helpful without being told to be, or without complaining when asked. It's a huge shift and a certain maturity that I wasn't expecting just yet but am very pleasantly surprised at.
10. My house is a mess and I don't care. We've been amazing at keeping it clean and neat for showings, but we've let it go this week. Sometimes it nice to just let it go and relax even if there is laundry waiting to be done and dishes in the sink (never mind the lack of groceries, that's going to have to change soon :oP)

Ten
Hadassa, of In The Pink revisited this meme and inspired me "visit" it myself.
Ten years ago I was about to be a mommy for the first time. I was heavily pregnant and pretty uncomfortable, but happily married and looking forward to Gavi.
Ten months ago I was homeschooling the kids which was an adventure in and of itself. I miss those days of us against the world just taking education a day at a time and following where ever their interests led us.
Ten weeks ago I was anticipating another birthday and dealing with winter, homework, and work work. Things don't change much in ten weeks I guess! (Except the weather, thankfully that's changed!!)
Ten days ago I was celebrating and enjoying the holiday of Passover with the family. We were eating. A lot. And yet, I still have leftovers in my fridge.
Ten hours ago I was asleep. I love Sunday mornings and sleeping in.
Ten minutes ago I was surfing the net and enjoying a slice of pizza and a glass of wine while the kids finish their dinner and an episode of "Scooby Doo."
Ten seconds ago I took another sip of my Pinot Noir.
In ten seconds from now I will probably still be doing this meme.
In ten minutes from now I'll be nagging my children to get ready for bed. It's back to school tomorrow and none of us are looking forward to it.
In ten hours from now I will hopefully be blissfully asleep, having a pleasant dream and resting my weary self after a day of strenuous yard work.
In ten days from now I will be fully settled back into the school, homework, work work schedule. Oh joy.
In ten weeks from now school will be OUT and the kids and I will be embarking on a fun summer schedule of swimming at the town pool, hanging out, visiting the library, having playdates with friends, and generally just doing what we want to, when we want to. I can hardly wait. I really, really, really love just BEING with my little monkeys.
In ten months from now I am not really sure where I will be. If our house sells we'll be somewhere else (Nyack? Brooklyn? Hoboken? It's up for grabs right now but it will be anywhere but here!) If it doesn't, we'll still be here doing what we do and making the best of it.
In ten years from now I will be 41 (ack!) and the parent of an almost 20 year old. That is some scary stuff! I will have a stronger career by then, along with some sort of degree because I will have gone back to school. We'll probably still be somewhere in the NY area, but hopefully somewhere closer to the city and in a community we feel more comfortable in.
That was fun, I am off to nag the kids to get ready for bed... what are your ten?
